 Our 2024 Summer Reading Program is focused on our amazing community of Havana, Illinois, and all of the resources you can find here!

Program Descriptions 

Storytime (all ages) Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Come to the Children's Room to hear library staff read their favorite stories!

Prize Day (ages 0-18) Fridays
We will be giving out prizes for reading progress!

 

Branching Up (ages 6 and up)
Themed stories and activities with school-aged children. We ask that a caregiver stay with their child for this event.

Catch (grades K-4th) 
A storytime followed by activities to get your young ones up and going!

Chautauqua Duck of the Month (all ages) 
Join Elizabeth Navas from Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge to learn about our local waterfowl! 

Craft Day @ U of I Extension Office Basement (school age)
Come to the Extension Office basement to make crafts!

Eat Play Grow (ages 0-5)
Learn about nutrition and healthy living with guest presenter Skye Mibbs!

Family Movie Night (all ages)
Join us in the U of I Extension Office basement for a family-friendly movie!

Illinois River Biological Station (all ages)
Learn about our river and the wildlife that lives there!

Little Sprouts (ages 0-5)
Themed stories and activities for babies and toddlers. We ask that a caregiver stay with their child for this event.

Movie at the Library (all ages)
We will be showing a kid-friendly movie in the Children's Room!

Teen Comic Book Club (ages 14-19)
We will be reading this month's comic book selection! You can pick up a copy at the front desk.

Teen Movie Night (ages 13-19)
We will be watching movies at the library!

 

Adult Summer Reading

Register for our Adult Summer Reading Program at the front desk!

  1.  Read a book (any book!)
  2.  Fill out an entry slip with your name, contact information, and the book title.
  3. Turn the slip in at the circulation desk and be entered to win one of four weekly prizes.
  4. Repeat until July 31st to maximize your chances of winning one of the grand prizes. (The grand prize drawing includes all slips from all patrons.)
